AUBURN — Auburn Village will host an open house today from 4-7 p.m. at 1751 Wesley Road, Auburn, to introduce its new, state-of-the-art dialysis center.
Auburn Village said it is partnering with Dialyze Direct, a provider of staff-assisted home hemodialysis services in skilled nursing facilities with a model of care focused on geriatric dialysis patients, to offer on-site home hemodialysis to residents.
The center opened in late April and offers treatments five days a week. It features six NxStage home hemodialysis machines.
“Our residents love the fact that they don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn, shuttle to a dialysis facility, sit there for four to five hours and then be shuttled back,” explained Kyle Rebman, director of admissions at Auburn Village.
He added that the room of one resident receiving dialysis is down the hall from the dialysis center, so all she has to do is walk about 30 seconds for a couple of hours of treatment.
Adding the dialysis center is part of the overall expansion and renovation of Auburn Village. Other enhancements include a newly constructed rehabilitation unit, remodeled private suites, a new therapy gym and a spacious common space for residents.
Overseeing Auburn Village’s dialysis center is Dr. Samuel Eby with Nephrology Associates of Northern Illinois and Indiana.
